Terms of Service
Effective 21 September 2026. These terms are a contract between you and Rob Teeuwen (“rito”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the rito app or website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use rito.
1. What rito is
rito is a place to log burritos, rate them and see what other people in San Diego think. Shop listings, opening hours, prices and menus are collected from public sources and from people using the app. They are often wrong, out of date, or a matter of opinion. Check with the shop before you rely on anything you read here.
rito is an independent project operated by Rob Teeuwen, and it is currently free. It is not run by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any shop, restaurant, truck, restaurant group or other business, including the ones that appear in it. Reviews are the personal opinions of the people who wrote them.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to hold a rito account.
- rito is currently invite only. Invite codes are for people, not for resale, and we can cancel a code or the account created with it.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your sign in method to yourself. Tell us at hello@getrito.app if you think someone else has got into it.
- One account per person. Do not impersonate anyone else in your username, your display name or your reviews.
3. Your content
“Your content” means anything you put into rito: reviews, ratings, comments, photos, usernames, shop suggestions and everything else you submit. You keep ownership of it.
You give us a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to host, store, resize, display and distribute your content as needed to run and provide rito, for as long as that content remains on rito. You confirm you have the right to give us that licence: that you took the photo, that you wrote the words, and that posting them breaks nobody else’s rights.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on rito. Do not post content that is:
- harassing, threatening, hateful, or that attacks people over race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or immigration status;
- sexually explicit, or sexual content involving minors in any form;
- violent, gory or designed to shock;
- illegal, or encouraging something illegal;
- a lie about a shop, a deliberately fake review, or a review you were paid to write without saying so;
- somebody else’s private information, including their address, phone number or workplace;
- spam, advertising, scraping output, malware, or automated posting of any kind;
- infringing somebody else’s copyright or trademark.
We may review content posted on rito, and we remove content that breaks these rules when we find it or when it is reported to us. We can remove any content, or suspend or delete any account, at any time and without notice, if we believe these rules have been broken. Accounts that post objectionable content are ejected.
4. Reporting and blocking
Every review, comment and profile in rito has a Report action. Reports go to us, not to the person you reported. We review reports as promptly as we reasonably can, and when we decide that content or behaviour breaks section 3 we take appropriate action, which usually means removing the content and, for repeat or serious cases, removing the account.
Every profile also has a Block action. Blocking someone hides their reviews, comments and reactions from you, hides yours from them, and stops them interacting with you in the app. You can unblock from the same place.
If something needs a person rather than a button, write to hello@getrito.app and a human will answer.
5. Copyright and DMCA
We respect copyright and we expect you to. Only upload photos you took yourself. A picture lifted from a shop’s social media, a press kit or another person’s review is not yours to post here.
Reporting infringement
If you own the copyright in something posted on rito, or you are authorised to act for the owner, send a notice to our designated agent:
Rob Teeuwen
4549 Laco Dr, San Diego, CA 92115
(619) 251-0332
hello@getrito.app
To be effective under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), your notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed;
- identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it, such as the URL of the photo or review;
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
We remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a complete notice, and we tell the person who posted it.
Counter notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter notice to the same agent, containing your signature, identification of the material and where it used to appear, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, and your name, address and telephone number, together with your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district, or for the State of California, United States if you are outside the United States, and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who complained.
If we receive a valid counter notice we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days, unless the complainant tells us they have gone to court.
Repeat infringers
We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright. Sending a takedown notice or a counter notice that misrepresents the position can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), so do not send one lightly.
6. Using rito
Do not:
- scrape, crawl or bulk export rito data, or use it to train a model;
- try to get at accounts, data or parts of the service you are not entitled to;
- interfere with the service, probe it for weaknesses, or work around a rate limit or a block;
- reverse engineer the app, except where law says you may;
- use rito to run a competing product.
If you find a security problem, please report it to hello@getrito.app before telling anyone else. We will not come after anyone acting in good faith.
7. Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Profile, then Delete account, in the app. Deletion removes your profile and personal data as described in the Privacy Policy, and it cannot be undone. Your check ins, reviews and comments stay on rito, detached from your account, so they keep counting towards each shop’s rating. Photos still attached to your check ins stay the same way, unless you remove them before deleting or ask us to remove them. You can ask us at hello@getrito.app, before or after deleting, to take down any other content you posted.
We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to, or if we stop running rito. If we shut the service down we will give reasonable notice where we can.
8. No warranty
rito is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, and we do not promise that anything you read in it is accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, rito is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of rito. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to rito is limited to 100 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Apple
If you got rito from the App Store, you should know that this agreement is between you and Rob Teeuwen only, not with Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for rito and is not responsible for any claim you have about it, including product liability, a failure to meet a legal requirement, or a consumer protection claim. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US embargo or listed by the US government as a prohibited party.
11. Changes
We can update these terms. If a change matters we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Carrying on using rito after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top of this page is always the current one.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes go to the courts located there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else.
